Wednesday morning . . . .

From Denise: Good morning!!! Here we are at Wednesday morning again. We have Friday and Saturday off to rest, recreate and refuel. So, Wednesdays for us are a day to continue to dig in and get the week’s work accomplished. I start my day of with Bible reading and prayer. By Wednesday I usually have many details from Sunday, Monday and Tuesday swimming around in my brain, so I have a greater need for the legal pad beside my comfy chair to jot down any extraneous thoughts that pop into my head unsolicited while I am trying to align my day with God’s purposes.

This morning I was in Psalms 60-64! In Psalm 60:12 we read, “Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who will tread down our enemies.” Subsequently, in Psalm 61: 4 the Psalmist declares, “I will abide in your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of your wings.” Then in Psalm 62: 8 we are exhorted to, “Trust in HIm at all times, you people; pour out your heart before HIm; God is a refuge for us.” Psalm 63: 7 returns once again to the meditation that we can find refuge in the shadow of God’s wings, “Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.” Finally, in Psalm 64: 1 and 9 the Psalmist is praying to God, “Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation; Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.” Vs. 64: 9 “All men shall fear, And shall declare the work of God; For they shall wisely consider His doing.”

From these passages, I am instructed that as believers, living in a fallen world, we do have enemies, but God will battle for us and “tread them down.” I see that we can confidently choose to “abide,” each day in the Lord and as we abide we will find shelter, we can trust in Him and we will find refuge that will cause us to greatly rejoice. We can cry out to God (Psalm 64) at any time in any place and He will hear us and deliver us from our enemies, but also deliver us from the “fear of our enemies.” Finally, we are exhorted to focus on what God is doing to build His Kingdom. As we wisely look for where God is already working, choose to participate in His plans and His work in His ways we will embark on a god ordained adventure of living according to and participate in what He is doing rather than doing our own works. ( Hebrews 4:10) In this is wisdom. Have a blessed Wednesday as we all endeavor to finish out the week with His guidance and strength.
